Morphology and Anatomy:

 

Female:

  • Body spiral to C-shaped, medium sized.  
  • Lip region slightly offset with five annules and longitudinal striae.  
  • Labial framework and stylet medium sized; stylet knobs rounded
  • Dorsal esophageal gland opening 5 µm from stylet base.  
  • Esophageal glands with three nuclei, overlap intestine dorsally and laterally; intestine symmetrically arranged between the subventral glands. 
  • Two genital branches outstretched, equally developed.  Spermathecae round.
  • Vulva at 60%; Epitygma double
  • Lateral field with four  incisures. 
  • Tail short, rounded, with 10 annules.  
  • Phasmids may be enlarged to scutella; anterior 30% from head end on left side, posterior 83% from head end on right.           

Male:

  • Lip region with 4 annules
  • Caudal alae enveloping tail
  • Esophageal structures smaller in males than in females
  • Phasmids anterior 36% from head end on left side, posterior 84% from head end on right.

Aorolaimus helicus was found in lsoil around Rosa sp at Agricultural Resaeach Center, Beltsville, Marylandd., USA
